Indie games

61 published games carry Steam's Indie genre tag, plus one entry not on Steam (Shin KoiKoi), whose tags were entered by hand.

On Steam, "Indie" sits in the same genre field as Action, RPG or Strategy, but it describes how a game was published rather than what you do in it. The field is filled in by whoever sets up the store page — the developer or the publisher — so a title from a large publisher can carry the label and a one-person project can leave it off.

This page lists every published game whose Steam genre field includes "Indie". Because the label alone does not settle the question, each game page also names the publisher and answers "Is this an indie game?" using the rubric on the methodology page.

Counts on this page are computed at build time from the published data; the genre field itself is copied from Steam. See how this site is made.
